Sardine Tin | Limited Edition Three-Colour Linocut Print

Sardine Tin (also titled End of the Line) is a handmade reduction linocut print with a playful nod to crowded London life and pop culture humour. Featuring stylised sardines in a vintage-inspired tin, this four-colour piece balances bold graphic shapes with layered texture and tone. Printed by hand on Zerkall smooth paper, it blends whimsy and classic printmaking craft in one original artwork.

A reduction linocut is created using a single block that is carved and printed in stages, with more of the material being cut away after each colour is printed. Because the same block is used throughout the process, the earlier layers of the image are gradually removed as the design develops. By the time the final colour is printed, much of the original block has been carved away, meaning it can no longer be used to produce another full set of prints. For this reason, once the edition is complete and the prints are sold, it is impossible to print any more from that block.
