Early Bird is a small tribute to those people who leap out of bed at the crack of dawn — something I have never been particularly good at.
While some of us are happiest staying under the duvet for as long as possible, the early birds are already outside getting on with the day. Sometimes that might even involve plucking a slightly terrified worm from the soil for breakfast.
This handmade linocut print features a shaggy, unimpressed bird holding an absurdly long yellow worm in its beak. The bold carved lines and high-contrast colours give the piece a playful graphic quality, while the character’s expression suggests it might rather still be asleep.
